The annual Christmas display at the Niagara Parks Floral Showcase just above the falls is now on. This free exhibition consists of the traditional red, white and pink Poinsettias as well as many unusual varieties and forms grown by NPC gardeners at the greenhouse. Cyclamen, Azaleas, Christmas Cactus and Narcissus round out the display. You’ll also find the greenhouse adorned with lights, garland, and a beautiful nativity scene. The exhibition remains open daily from 9:30 am until 7:30 pm. Closed on Christmas Day and earlier on New Years Eve.
Originally, the Floral Showcase was called the Niagara Parks Greenhouse. This lovely spacious greenhouse was originally built in 1946 in an area referred to as,"The Flats". I can remember when a new addition was built in 1980 to house large glorious Palm trees in the foyer of the building. The Palm trees are still here and now almost reach the top of the top of the glass ceiling.
If you’re not yet in the holiday spirit a visit here will be sure to get you into the mood.
