A photo I took this morning of Murray Hill after this winter's first snow fall on Nov. 20th. You can see the winter icicles and the falls in the background. Very cold morning!

George, That is an awesome shot, but I don't mind waiting until late December or even January to see it.

George

Great shot, George. Were you up early or out late?

That is a wonderful photo. You mentioned that it was morning - my goodness, what was it - 4:00 a.m.?

George - I was feeling a little homesick today and was so pleased to find your blog. Last time I was there I did get up early and lonely to see the sunrise and it is stunning. No less your most recent image. I hope you are well and enjoying the days. Kindest Regards from the Island:N

Niagara Falls has always been a special place to my family - we've even considered moving to the area. We never tire of the beauty of the Falls and surrounding area. Please tell us more about Marilyn Monroe's time filming Niagara. Thanks for the blog and fantastic pics!

George Bailey
Marilyn Monroe spent two fun-filled weeks in June of 1952 in Niagara Falls, Canada. She took`second-billing` to the falls. Some might disagree and say she was the main billing! The filming for this 20th Century Fox 89 minute technicolor movie, `Niagara` began on June 2 and ended on June 18th. For 26 year old Marilyn Monroe it was the first movie that she received top billing. When it was released in January of 1953 it established her an a legitimate movie star and she quickly became an icon.

Paul
Great Blog George! You know, I have very found memories of Niagara Falls as a young child. That's why I visit the Falls and NOTL every year. It's a very nostalgic experience for me personally. In fact, this past summer I organized a Classic Car Fun Run to Niagara Falls among my group of friends. We drove from Toronto to the Falls and stayed overnight at a B&B in NOTL. We had such a blast! George, how can I get a copy of your amazing book, `Marilyn Monroe and the Making of Niagara`? That movie left quite an impression on me for a number of reasons – the great performances of Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Cotton, the vibrant backdrop of Niagara of the early 50s, and the dramatic impact of the great Falls throughout the movie. Fantastic!

George Bailey
Paul, Thanks for the note. When I wrote and self-published ,`Marilyn Monroe and the Making of Niagara` several years ago it was done out of personal interest and not with the intention of making money, but to simply meet costs.I published two different editions of 500 each time. I beleive I sold them originally for $10.00 each plus postage. I have kept only two of each edition for myself and family. People tell me that these books now sell for about $110.00 each on e-bay. If you can afford it that's the only place I know where you can get a copy. Kind Regards, George

Niagara Parks does a wonderful job.

George that is just so magical, so beautiful,

Claus Skytte - Denmark
Dear George Bailey Would it be possible to receive your e-mail address as I have some questions about the making of Niagara starring Mrs. Monroe. Further more I would love to know if it would be possible to buy a copy of your book. All the best and greetings from Denmark

George
Claus, My e-mail address is wonderful.life@sympatico.ca. I only have two copies of my Marilyn Monroe book that I wish to keep. I do see they are selling on e-bay for $125.00 each. I orginally sold them for $10.00.

Bob
Hello George Bailey, I visited Niagara (Canadian side) about 30 years ago. I'm planning on spending a vacation/honeymoon there later in 2010 and want to see it by air, boat and foot, like never before... I am a fan of Monroe's movie of 1952/53 and would like to know if there is a tour or any guide that permits us to follow her footsteps during the filming of that movie. If there are any remaining associated landmarks, I'd like to visit them. What do you say? Bob ava

George
Bob, this is a question I am often asked. To my knowledge, there is no tour offered of the locations where Marilyn filmed the movie Niagara in June of 1952. Many of the locations are still. I'd be pleased to offer to do such a tour if there was enough interest.
