STYX AND GLASS TIGER HEADLINE NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY IN QUEEN VICTORIA PARK By GEORGE BAILEY 2009-12-01 18:00:13
| The Niagara Parks Commission has just announced legendary rocker STYX and Canadian icons Glass Tiger will headline the annual free New Years Eve party in the park opposite the American Falls. This is one of the main events of this years annual Winter Festival of Lights. The entertainment begins at 8pm.
Two spectacular (yes, they really are) fireworks displays take place over the falls, one at 9pm (for the kids) and another at midnight for us older folks.
The party, as in past years, will be televised nationally.
Hope you and your family can make it. A bit of advice, park your car outside the park and walk in, dress with lots of layers of clothes (it's colder near the falls) and most of all, leave the boos at home! We want this to be a fun night and not a drunk night.

traveler I am not sure whom to ask, so I am posting my question here: I would like to take my grandchildren to Niagara Falls january 25-26, but I am concerned that the falls are occassionally 'turned off' during the winter. How can I find out whether that may happen. I would also like to know whether the Cave of the Winds and Queen of the Mist are open and running then. Can you help?
Keith G. Whitwell Hello George, We have finally ventured into the technological age and would love to hear from you again. My God you look even younger than when we last saw you. These air brushes are good aren't they. If you have your own email could you please let me have it or a telephone number. We will never forget our visits and your kindness. Keith, Christine, Jonathan anf Christopher Whitwell
George Thanks for the questions. The Falls are never shut-off. During the winter months less water flows over them because 50% of the water above the falls is diverted for power purposes. The Maid of the Mist and The Cave of the Winds trips are both closed during the winter. Don't worry, there's plenty of other activities to keep you busy at this time of the year.
George Keith, Nice to hear from you and glad to learn your family are well. It's the new `hair-do` that makes me look younger than my 65 years. Keith if I list my e-mail address everyone who reads this blog will have access. I do not see your e-mail address attached. My telephone number is the same as it has been for 30 years. Hope to hear from you again.
Melly Wow! My 2 favourite bands playing together! This is great news indeed! It should be an awesome night!
John These would be my two favorite bands too!!! IF I WAS OVER 60. Year after year the New Year's Concert has got worse than the last. How about paying for someone current, hip and exciting?
George John, Let us , `old folks` enjoy ourselves once in a while.Maybe, some day your children will be saying the same thing about your music.
Daniel Before excuse me for my english, is poor! I project to make a trip in USA. New-York-Niagara Falls-Las Vegas-San Francisco I want comming from New York city, spend two days-one night in Niagara Falls. After, I want take a flight for going to Las Végas. I don't now if is it possible to take a plane to the Niagara Fall's airport for going to Végas, or if I can doing that to Toronto. Someone can help me ? Many Thanks
George Daniel, There is an international airport in Niagara Falls, N.Y.and I believe you can fly into the airport from New York City. Buffalo, which is about 20 miles from Niagara Falls,Ont handles flights from New York City as does the Pierson (Toronto) International Airport ( 2 hours from Niagara by car. I'd suggest you check with a travel agency. Hope this helps.
Dolly Parton Are they supposed to leave the boos at home or the booze? There is a difference and you can't get drunk off boos
George Dolly, Perhaps if you did enough`boos` you would get drunk! Who knows. Thanks for pointing out my imperfections.Nobody's perfect. I always was a bad spaller.
