If you're looking for something warm to do with your family this winter that won't cost an arm and a leg do I have a suggestion for you.

The Butterfly Conservatory located on the Niagara Parkway just 10 minutes north of the Falls will fill the bill.Opened in 1996,it's the world's largest glass enclosed Butterfly Conservatory containing over 2,000 butterflies of up to 50 different species in a lush tropical setting.

Butterflies are much like us they are more alert when the sun is out. Therefore, plan on going early in the morning when the sun hits the conservatory best. Also, wear something colourful. Believe it or not butterflies are attracted to bright colours. Chances are you'll have a number of them using you as a landing pad. The Butterfly Conservatory is open year-round except Christmas Day.

This was a great stop on our trip to Niagara Falls. It is a beautiful and immaculately kept park, and a great place to get away from the `honky tonk` of downtown Niagara Falls. We spent most of our time in the butterfly conservatory, the kids loved it. There was plenty to see to keep them interested. I would have liked to have toured the rest of the park completely, but my kids are too young to last very long looking at plants/trees. We did tour the flower gardens, and they were beautiful. If you are in this area, don't miss this spot!

You have a great blog George. What brought me to it was a search for past N.F. museums. Remember the 1960’s auto museum which featured cars from Al Capone to Mussolini and was it the Movie Star museum which featured Richard Boone (Paladin) Porsche.

Great Blog, George. What cought my eye was `Florida Cheap` We are very excited! We are coming from South Florida and we have our hotel reservations in July. We need your help and do not know what airports to use distance wise to save on transportation fees to and from airport, whether shuttles or taxi. Niagara Falls, Buffalo- NY, Pierson, Hamilton? Any recommendations or suggestions is appreciated. Thank you, Florida JT

George
Jerry, The closest airport to Niagara Falls, Ontario is the International Buffalo Airport. It's about a half-hour drive to Niagara Falls(provided traffic is not heavy at the border). I'm not sure about taxi's. Go to the airport site and they most likely have a link for transportation. You're going to love it in Niagara.
