FREE FALLS, FIREWORKS AND FAMILY FUN

I know I’ve spoken about this before but this bears repeating.
I rode my bicycle this past Sunday evening to Queen Victoria Park and took in the free Coca Cola Live entertainment that began at 8pm just below the Illumination Tower. It ran until exactly 10 pm when spectacular fireworks displays, presented by Pizza Pizza, lite up the skies above Niagara Falls. No matter how many times I see this sight it still sends shivers up my back.
This same scenario plays out every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday until September 2nd.The displays then continue on Fridays from September 7 until October 5.
There are lots of other free things for the entire family to enjoy. Dufferin Islands just above the falls and off the Niagara River is a wonderful place for a family hike or picnic. Nearby is the free Niagara Falls Parks Floral Showhouse-indoor greenhouse. Inside you’ll also see free-flying tropical birds. The summer show showcases Geraniums, Coleus, and mixed annuals. The attraction is open daily.

I just had to comment on the most ridiculous example of a fireworks display over the falls. I felt like it was a huge ploy to keep people out late and spend more money. If the display lasted 3 mins then I am being generous. In the little town I am from they do a better job every Friday night. Disappointing....

Karen, Sorry to feel that the fireworks wern't up to your standards.The fireworks went on for 6 minutes (cut short because of the wind) I was there last night with people from Ohio who raved about the display. I guess the old adage is true, `Everything is in the eyes of the beholder`

Karen, I was wrong. I had my fireworks nights mixed up. You were correct. It was only a three minute display and not up to the normal standards. It was announced at the Coca Cola Bandshell that the fireworks had to be stopped because of wind conditions.If you were not within ear-shot you would have missed that announcement. My apologizes.

Above mentions that the fireworks continue on Fridays from Sept. 7 thru Oct. 5 - neither one of those dates are on a Friday??? Just want to be sure when the fireworks are - we are arriving in Sept.

Terrie, OPPS!. You're right, I was wrong. The correct dates are Sept 9 and Oct. 7th. Sorry about that.
