Many of us know about the Gillette razor but did you know the inventor of this razor, King Camp Gillette had one time envisioned a mammoth city that would completely enclose the Niagara area into one large Metroplis, as he called it.
He described it in the late 1890's as being the only city on the continent. It would house almost the entire sixty million, the population of the United States at the time. People would be housed in twenty-four thousand gigantic apartments ( I've attached a sketch of one of the apartments),each twenty-five stories high, accommodating twenty-five hundred tenants all feeding on Niagara's, "unlimited power and free from the annoyances of house-keeping". No, I'm not making this up. Gillette’s great central city was designed as a rectangle, 135 miles long and 45 miles wide.
Money would not be needed in Metropolis. Each citizen would work for a certain number of hours a week Nothing ever came of King Camp Gillette's grandiose concept.
However, he did in October 1908 register a patent for his now famous razor blades.

Susan Fournier We are coming from USA do we need a passport to visit Niagra Falls? We would like to experience all the falls have to offer, does this mean crossing the boarder and do we need a passport (by we I am including two children ages 10 and 12)?
George Bailey Susan, If you are coming into Canada all members of your party will need a passport. I hope you realize there is a Niagara Falls, N.Y. and a Niagara Falls, Canada. You can stay in Niagara Falls N.Y. and still expeience the Falls.
