Well, here’s a sure sign the holiday season is about to begin. At a news conference this week it was announced the 29th CAA Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls Canada opens on Saturday November 5 and continues until January 31st.
I had the honour of being the Chairman of this event for the first two years. At that time I was managing one of Niagara Sheraton hotels. Most of us hoteliers closed the doors to our hotels at the end of October and re-opened in the spring. Boy has that changed.
This year’s festival, as in the past, is filled with lots of free things to do. To name a few, they’ll be new animated dancing tree illumination in the Dufferin Islands area to visit. Queen Victoria Park will feature seven large trees covered with LED lights surrounding a four metre tall Christmas tree. The popular TD Rink at the Brink returns. It’s an outdoor skating rink at the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Attached is a photograph of the Kevin Harding, Chair of the festival and Bruno Iafrate, Chair of the Niagara CAA.
