Over the next few weeks I intend to blog about some of the many free (or almost free) Niagara Falls attractions that I find of interest. Some of these attractions I believe locals aren’t even aware off.
The first one is Niagara Falls Jade Museum in the historic downtown area Niagara Falls.
The museum is found inside a former Salvation Army church. When you enter you’ll be blown away by the 16-ton, 3.8 metre (12 foot) high rare green jade stone that dominates the building. This massive jade piece, called the stone of heaven, is second only to the 32 ton stone used to carve the Jade Buddha in Bangkok, Thailand. The stone, worth one million dollars, arrived in Niagara Falls in 1997, and is part of Willpower Institute of Canada. This institute offers a free five month Medication Course.
Buddhist monks from Thailand help administer the museum. Admission to the museum is free and so is the parking. Opening hours are sporadic.
