NIAGARA’S ROAR IS HEARD WORLDWIDE By GEORGE BAILEY
2010-11-23 13:37:22
| Tourist business declined in Niagara Falls during the economic depression of the 1930’s but the Scenic Tunnels (now called, Journey Behind the Falls) at Table Rock continued to draw visitors especially after a special event that took place in 1935
That’s when the roar of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls was broadcast worldwide during a special Christmas radio broadcast. How did they do it? Simple, a microphone was placed at the furthermost portal behind the falls of the Scenic Tunnel to catch the sound of the falling water. I guess it was a roaring (get it) success.
The Journey Behind the Falls located at the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls is open year-round. There’s nothing like hearing the water of four Great Lakes crashing over the cataract at any time of the year.
