For the next few weeks the leaves are in their brilliant coats of reds, browns, and orange as they show off their fall colours.
Near the falls the Chrysanthemums are still going strong. This afternoon I happened to be in Queen Victoria Park opposite the American Falls and captured this magnificent site.
This is where the Niagara Parks Commission was first established in 1885. Many of the trees you find here were planted at that time. Lots of them have a little tag on them explaining their common and botanical names. The reason? Some trees are called a different name in other parts of the world, but the botanical remains the same. The land here is mostly rock therefore hundreds of loads of soil had to be brought in to enable these trees to be planted.
Hope you found your way to Niagara this summer for some sightseeing and Niagara Falls attractions including a ride on the Maid of the Mist which, sadly, has now closed for the season.
